RULES & REGULATIONS FOR 2010

80’s & NEWER

 

General:  All entrants must be 16 years or older.  Any entrant under 18 must have notarized release signed by parent or guardian.  The Seneca County Agricultural Society, or any of its members will not be held responsible for injuries or damage of cars, entrant, mechanic or car owners.

 

All protest must be done 10 minutes prior to 1st heat.  A protest fee of $100.00 must be made, non-refundable.

 

All winning cars may be reinspected after feature to confirm car is legal.  If you are caught cheating you will forfeit any entry fee, money won or trophy.  Derby official is final decision.

 

Any American made 1980 or newer hardtop may be used, except for convertibles.

 

Drivers must wear a crash helmet with shield or eye protection (full face helmet is recommended) long pants, long sleeve shirt and seat belt are required.  Driver will not extend any part of his/her body outside of car at any time while heat is running.

 

Drivers DOOR & PASS. door must be painted white.

 

All cars must have brakes before inspection.

 

All preceding rules apply for FULL SIZE & COMPACT except where noted.

 

Compact wheel base 106” MAX.

 

ENGINE:  Engine mounts may be chained or welded.  Engine swapping is allowed GM to Ford, Ford to Chrysler, etc.  Compacts must have 4 or 6 cylinder.  Headers to exit straight up through hood.  Distributor  protector may be used but only bolted to motor & trans.  No kickers to inside cage, bar, frame or body.

 

GAS TANK:  All gas tanks must be moved to back seat.  They must be securely fastened and covered before inspection.  All tanks must be vented outside vehicle.  No tank larger than 5 gallon.  Electric fuel pump may be used.  Must have on & off switch on dash clearly marked.  Gas tank protectors may be used must be NO WIDER THAN INSIDE OF FRAME & 2” OFF FROM REAR PANEL NO KICKERS IN ANY DIRECTION (this is not a frame roll reinforcement)

 

ELECTRICAL & BATTERY:  One battery of any size may be used.  It must be securely fastened and covered in drivers compartment before inspection.  Solenoid, modules, regulator, etc. may be moved but must remain under hood and in front of firewall.

 

DRIVERS COMPARTMENT:  May have max 3” diameter pipe behind drivers seat and across dash.  No kickers to floor or firewall.  Drivers door only may be reinforced.  Passenger side may have bar inside drivers compartment but MUST NOT TOUCH ANY PART OF BODY.

 

TRANSMISSION:  Trans cooler may be used, must have some type of shield protecting driver in case of cooler rupture.  All cooler line must be covered.

 

FRAME:  MUST BE STOCK.  No plating frame for any reason inside or outside.  No rewelding frame seams anywhere for any reason.  Body Mounts must remain in place or replace with like material, body bolts may be changed no larger than 5/8 bolt with 3’ by 3” washer.  Notching or prebending frame is allowed.  Strap or chain may be used from hump to hump but cannot go around axle.

 

Hump strap may be used.  TOP OF STRAP MUST BE AT LEAST 3” FROM BOTTOM OF HUMP, 3” WIDE, 24” LENGTH, Ό” THICK MAX STRAP SIZE, ONE (1) STRAP PER SIDE.  THIS RULE DOES “NOT” APPLY TO COMPACT CARS.

 

SUSPENSION:  Must be stock, no welding shocks, no air shocks.  No truck rear ends 5 lug only must be automotive type.  Rear coil springs may be wired or welded only to hold in place.  Coil spring cannot be welded solid.  Coil spring swap is permitted NO leaf spring conversions.  Front A-Arm CANNOT be welded.  Chaining or bolting is allowed.

 

BUMPERS:  May be welded to plate and plate welded to frame.  NO EXTRA PLATE OR BRACING, IF FRONT FRAME CUT SHORT MUST BE 1” INSPECTION HOLE IN FRAME BEHIND BUMPER.  Must be factory style bumper.  NO PRE 1980 BUMPERS.  BUMPER SHOCKS ARE OPTIONAL.

 

TIRES:  Any AUTOMOTIVE type tire may be used must have DOT NUMBER and be street legal.  No loading tire, no wheel weights, no studded tires.  Valve stem protectors may be used.

 

BODY:  NO inner body seam welding for any reason.  Doors and trunk may be welded but not solid, MAX 12”-4” plate or weld and skip 12’.  If trunk is welded must have hole for inspection, trunk is either on or off must be in stock position.  NO WEDGING OR TUCKING, BODY CANNOT BE WELDED TO BUMPER.  16” min rear bumper height from bottom of bumper.  HOODS may be chained or wired in 4 places must be opened for inspection, 2 front hood pins may go through core support and frame 5/8 rod MAX.

 

RADIATOR:  Must be stock automotive type radiator and remain in original position.  NO ANTIFREEZE.

 

IF IT DOESN’T SAY IT DON’T DO IT.

 

DISQUALIFICATIONS: 

Any intentional hitting drivers door

Any hot rodding in pits.

Any car leaking gas in arena

Any arguing with officials.

Any sandbagging

1st offense caught cheating

 

Due to space limitations in the pit area, three tickets will be issued.  One ticket for driver, one ticket for mechanic, one ticket for tow vehicle.  No other vehicle will be allowed in pit area.
